ALEXANDRINA LIBRARY SERVICES
history room news
No 3 by Dawn Juers
Thank you once again for your remarks and input. It is very heartening to hear your comments.
I have recently returned from a week in Broken Hill and on one of their hot days we decided to seek out the Library and ‘Outback Archives’. They have an excellent collection of records from all over Australia and their volunteers were very helpful. I was only wishing I had been organized to do more research . For anyone contemplating holidays in that area I recommend their services. They are in Blende St and are closed on Wednesdays and weekends but other days their hours are 10am -1pm; 2pm – 5pm.
(I found that my Gt Grandfather was a butcher, of William St., Broken Hill so my research wasn’t completely in vain!)
We were very fortunate to receive donations of the following microfiche –
South Australian Record Series No 14 – Arrivals Index, Part 1 by Jill Statton, OAM
South Australian Record Series No 15 – Missing Friends (Police Gazette) 1880-1889 by Jill Statton, OAM
Miscellaneous Certificates – Composite Index Vols. 1 – 10 by Jill Statton, OAM
Adelaide Chronicle: Personal Notices Index, Part 4 – 1924 by Jill Statton, OAM
(The above were kindly donated to our History Room Collection by Jill Statton, OAM).
