Locality                 Goolwa (now National Trust Museum) 

 

Description           Bartons' Wheelwrights and Carriage Makers -subsequently Thomas Henley, then Bartletts, then Warburtons.

Built in about 1865 this was the Barton coachbuilding works. It was bought by Thomas Henley around the end of the 19th century and he used it as a blacksmithy, and undertakers business. It later became a motor garage and in 1971 was bought by the National Trust of South Australia and developed as their museum. The paddle steamer Arcadia was built here in 1903 and transported to the river on railway wheels for launching.
